Time for another Ventura Boulevard dining winner; except… this one really goes above and beyond.
An open kitchen provides a fabulous view into a well-oiled-machine-like kitchen run by head chef Ted Hopson. He and partner/beverage director Ann-Marie Verde (both formerly of beer grub-pub Father’s Office) have a bona-fide hit on their hands.
The staff is very enthusiastic, knowledgable, friendly and very attentive. Even better? The food is AHHHHH-mazingly delicious, but not at all pretentious.
I highly (HIGHLY) recommend the braised chick pea stew, tempura cauliflower and pork rillet. The drinks are inventive and the beer list is “top shelf.” Even the sweets at the end knocked our socks off.
Bravo Ted and Ann-Marie, welcome to the 818 and thanks for creating a new neighborhood favorite. (Oh… and a bonus – valet parking to make things easy.)
