I simply cannot say enough nice things about this refined, delicious, friendly, casual neighborhood wine bar.
Owners Dustin Lancaster, Mathew Kaner and Dave Gibbs (thx for suggesting the vintage sautern Dave!) have outdone themselves with Augustine. Sure, the wine list is superb (from familiar to a number of special, vintage treats) and the knowledge of the combined sommeliers is awesome. The best bit though? The FOOD is outstanding. OUT-STANDING!! Props to Chef Evan Algorri.
They have one of the most distinctive charcuterie plates in the city, their braised octopus is heavenly, the Kale Salad even makes this carnivore VERY happy and Sirloin Steak? No words, my friends. No words.
Augustine is just down the street from the shop my husband and I own, so we are here a lot – out on the patio, waving to our friend Carmen as she drives by – too busy to join our Augustine evening …such a shame!
What’s left to say? There’s valet parking. It’s in a lovely neighborhood. We recommend Augustine weekly to clients and friends.
Bottom line: It’s our favorite watering hole AND currently on our top five list for dinner *anywhere* in L.A.
